A Touch of Class
A Touch of Class is an Irish golf podcast that loves a wander. Hosted by Will Griffith, the show dives into the stories, journeys, and characters that make Irish golf what it is. No scripts, just honest conversations, detours worth taking, and the people who shape the game.
Each episode features players, coaches, caddies, amateurs, pros, and the personalities who give Irish golf its character. From Irish amateur golf and the Irish Amateur Championship to life on tour, coaching, player development, and the game behind the game, A Touch of Class brings you closer to the people and moments that matter.
The podcast also shines a light on Ireland’s great inter‑club traditions — Senior Cup, Barton Shield, Jimmy Bruen, Pierce Purcell, and the All‑Ireland club champions who have shaped the competitive landscape of Irish golf.
If you love Irish golf, great stories, and the feeling of going for a wander and seeing where you end up, this is your podcast.

Welcome back to another Class Chat. In this episode Will chats with Cavan native Eddie McCormack. Where does one start with this man. He is in his second act as an elite Amateur. In his first act he had the great honour of getting beaten by Rory McIlroy, twice. Once in the final of the Close in 2005 and again in the West of Ireland. Add to that other close calls including losing to Shane Lowry in the semi final of the West in 2008, losing in the final of the West to Rory Leonard n 2010 Eddie has played with the best of them. Throw in 3 Senior Cup All Ireland medals and a Barton Shield medal with Galway Golf Club, 8 mid amateur titles including the Irish Mid Amateur in his home club and a Connacht stroke play title in 2018 and that is probably enough for any one person. Not this man, onward to the second act and Eddie is now on the senior tour where he has had his biggest win in the European Individual Gold medal in 2023 which was played in Douglas. This got him into the Senior Open in the same year where he got to play with his golfing hero Jose Maria Olazabal. Some say don't ever meet your hero. Not in the this case. In 2025 Eddie that created history by being the first person the win the Senior Amateur Open and Matchplay which is just an amazing achievement. He then went and won a gold medal in Austria at the Senior Team Championship playing alongside the likes of Joe Lyons, Andrew Norris, Jody Fanagan, Karl Bornemann, Philip Purdy and of course Eddie. What is left for him to do? Watch this space. What a legend and a chat I wont forget soon.
